A host of clubs have already reached round 16 of the tournament.
The knockout stages of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 are quickly approaching, and the competition is currently underway in the United States. Fans of football are getting closer to learning who will win the trophy.
Many teams have already secured their place in the round of 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, and we also have knockout stage fixtures with Inter Miami set to face PSG, and Botafogo will take on Palmeiras.
Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Cole Palmer, and Ousmane Dembele are among the players still vying for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. The show continues despite the unpredictable weather, and teams are now preparing to compete in the knockout stages.
The quarterfinals will take place on July 4 and 5, followed by the semi-finals on July 8 and 9. The knockout stages will begin on June 28.
But what if both teams from the same club are tied on a similar number of points? Then, who will finish on top? Let’s take a look below.
What happens when two teams in the group stage have the same number of points in FIFA Club World Cup 2025?
Teams are often divided by points, but if they finish the group stage with points tied, the winner will be decided by goal differential in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
This was already evident in the last group stage match, where Atletico Madrid defeated Botafogo 1-0, leaving both teams on six points. Due to their superior goal differential, the Brazilian team advanced.
However, it will be a head-to-head match if the two clubs are tied in terms of points and goals scored. When two teams play head-to-head, the winner of the match will advance if they are tied.
Given that Man City and Juventus both have six points and an eight-goal differential going into their match, Group G may require an additional factor to determine the winner. Juventus presently leads 9–8; thus, if the teams draw, the match would go to goals scored.
