Nike is facing backlash following a major defect in their kits.
Nike has admitted that there is a design flaw in their 2026 World Cup kits and that the shirts fall short of their expectations. The international sportswear company unveiled national team shirts for the competition last month.
England, France, Uruguay, and co-host Canada were included in the release, and fans gave the kits a lot of positive reviews at first.

However, Nike released a statement to the Guardian after a flaw in the shoulder region was discovered during the international break last month.
“During the recent international break, we observed a minor issue with our Nike national team kits, most noticeable around the shoulder seam,” a company spokesperson said.
“Performance is unaffected, but the overall aesthetic is not where it needs to be.”
The kits received initially great reviews as a result, but as soon as the players put on the new design, onlookers noticed the problem.
An unusual bulging effect along the shoulder seam is the problem. Every national team design seems to have a different level of seriousness, with some shirts being worse than others.
The flaw was hardly apparent on the US home shirt, but on others were much more evident. During Les Bleus’ double header against Brazil and Colombia last month, spectators were quick to point out the defect in France captain Kylian Mbappe’s kit.
Nike is currently in communication with its partners in the hopes of reaching a good agreement. With only two months until the World Cup and potential logistical challenges, it is highly uncertain that Nike can modify all the kits. Although it is currently unknown, there is a slight chance that supporters will receive compensation for the flaw.
What defect do Nike’s World Cup kits have?
The shirts have a stitching error, causing a pointed effect on the shoulders
Will they re-release all the kits for the national team?
It appears impossible, given that the competition is just two months away.
