United have returned to the top European competition after two years of absence.
Following Sunday’s events, Manchester United will make a comeback to the largest European stage in 2026–2027.
In fact, the Red Devils’ 3-2 victory over Liverpool guaranteed them a Champions League ticket and guaranteed them a spot in the top five of the Premier League.

As of right now, United are in third place and will be looking to either hold onto that spot in the next three games of the season or perhaps try to get closer to second-place Manchester City, who are ahead by six points after playing two fewer games.
Manchester United learn which pot they will be in during the UCL draw
Simon Stone of BBC Sport on X/Twitter gave a sneak peek at some of the teams United might play when the competition resumes next season. Manchester United will likely end up in Pot 2 or 3 in the Champions League draw.
The Reds “guarantee” two games against non-English powers like Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan, as it appears that they will be in pots two or three in the UCL draw.
Four of the five teams have already won their respective leagues (Bayern and Inter), while PSG and Barcelona are on the verge of winning them.
Arsenal and Manchester City will join United from the Premier League; following matchweek 35, it’s unclear who else will.
While Bournemouth and Brentford are still in the running, fifth-place Aston Villa lost to Tottenham Hotspur yesterday, pushing Spurs out of the relegation zone.
However, Villa would automatically qualify if they clinch the Europa League. They must overcome a one-goal deficit against Nottingham Forest in the second leg of the semi-final this week.
Which pot could Manchester United end up in?
Pot 2 or 3, where they could face big sides such as PSG, Barca, Inter, Madrid and Bayern.
When did Manchester United last win the Champions League?
