Hailing from Sweden, Alexander Andersson made history when he became the youngest ever to debut in the Allsvenskan, which is the highest football league in Sweden. At just 15 years and 24 days, Djurgarden subbed him in the 86th minute of their league match against Elfsborg.

He has become the youngest player ever to compete in the Swedish top league, surpassing Nicklas Barkroth, who previously held the record for making his debut at 15 years and 230 days for Goteborg.

Alexander Andersson played for a total of four minutes. Even though Djurgarden lost the game against Elfsborg by 0-4, for Andersson, it will be a match worth remembering.

The 15-year-old Swedish midfielder was looking in a joyful state while coming onto the field. It will be a big confidence booster for Andersson and as the Allsvenskan 2025 season is still in its first phase, there are many games left for Djurgarden to experiment with Alexander Andersson.

Who is Alexander Andersson?

Alexander Andersson’s journey began with IF Brommapojkarna Jugend, which is a youth team for the Swedish club IF Brommapojkarna. In January 2025, Djurgarden U-19 team signed him on a free transfer.

Andersson caught the eye of many people when he debuted for Djurgarden’s senior team in May 2025. It was the 10th game of the Allsvenskan 2025 season for Djurgarden and they decided to bring on the 15-year-old for the final four minutes of the game.

He was on the bench for the last couple of Swedish 1st League games against Goteborg and Mjallby. But this time around Djurgarden’s head coach, Jani Honkavaara thought of subbing him on the field.

This debut will live long in the memory for Alexander Andersson who is yet to be offered a different contract for the senior team. Jani Honkavaara, during the post-match interview mentioned, “During his time on the field, it looked like he wasn’t that young and he is not afraid to take the responsibility.”
