Kennet Eichhorn, a 16-year-old Hertha Berlin regular, is already predicted to have a career at the highest level of the sport. Here we take a look at the German youth international in more detail.
Eichhorn has been playing for Hertha BSC since he was a U-9 player in 2017. He earned his first professional deal with the team on July 4, 2025. He earned his senior and professional debut with Hertha in a 0–0 draw with Karlsruher SC in 2. Bundesliga game on August 10, 2025.
At the Heinz von Heiden Arena, Kennet Eichhorn orchestrated play with a maturity that belied his young age. He completed 86 per cent of his passes, lost possession just once, and won 55 per cent of his challenges before leaving in the 89th minute to a thunderous applause from the visiting supporters.
Kennet Eichhorn became the youngest debutant in the league at 16 years and 14 days of age, breaking Efe-Kaan Sihlaroglu’s record in the 2. Bundesliga.
The following year, on December 2, at the age of 16 years and 128 days, he registered his first goal for the team in a 6-1 victory over Kaiserslautern in the DFB-Pokal.
This made him the youngest scorer in the tournament’s history, surpassing Jude Bellingham’s prior record, and the youngest scorer in Hertha’s history, surpassing Ibrahim Maza’s record.
Kennet Eichhorn’s international career so far
With two goals in the 4-0 European Under-17 Championship qualifying triumph against Luxembourg and captaining Germany Under-17s in all four of his games, the teenager is rapidly establishing himself on the international scene as well.
He most likely would have captained the team at this month’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar if it weren’t for his club obligations.
Kennet Eichhorn’s playing style
It should come as no surprise that Kennet Eichhorn has been compared to the legendary Toni Kroos, formerly of Germany, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, given his grace and poise on the ball.
Felix Kroos, a former midfielder for Union Berlin and Werder Bremen and the brother of the 2014 World Cup champion, has noted those parallels and hopes that Kennet Eichhorn will continue to improve at Hertha in the years to come.
“That’s what got him to where he is now,” Kroos told Watson last month, adding: “The way he plays is remarkable. He radiates calm, he’s gaining valuable experience but is allowed to make mistakes. I hope he continues to develop at Hertha.”
