Who is Javi Guerra? Spanish midfielder linked with Manchester United

Many European clubs are interested in signing the brilliant midfielder.

Javi Guerra, a midfielder for Valencia, is a target for Manchester United this summer. Serie A powerhouse AC Milan have also expressed interest in the Spaniard. However, the Red Devils are seen to be the front-runners to sign the young player.

In the summer transfer window, United completed three acquisitions, including the acquisition of Wolves star Matheus Cunha.

Journalist Daniele Longo claims that Guerra is almost certain to sign for Old Trafford team this summer. Before making his professional Valencia debut in 2022, the 22-year-old progressed through the club’s junior system.

Italian powerhouse AC Milan have also expressed interest in the youngster and are apparently negotiating a trade that may cost between €25 to €30 million.

Who is Javi Guerra?

Javi Guerra, was born in  Gilet, Valencian Community. He joined Valencia CF’s academy in 2019, from Villarreal CF. His performance captivated the Spanish club, which offered a new deal until 2024.

He made his debut for the second team on 23 May 2021 and was later promoted to the first team. He quickly earned his bow for the senior team in LaLiga on 16 April 2023.

As he continued to enhance his performance, Valencia handed the midfielder a new deal valid until 2027. Ever since he joined the Valencia academy, he has displayed underrated performances and earned a starting slot in the senior team.

It was unavoidable that Valencia would be able to keep the player, who was keen on climbing the upper ladder of his career after Manchester United came calling. Guerra is now almost certain to sign for the Red Devils. Now the only thing that remains is the agreement between both clubs.

Javi Guerra’s playing style

Guerra is an accomplished midfield player who can play in a holding or more advanced role. He possesses excellent tackling abilities, a superb short game, long-range, and the ability to deliver through balls.

Although he has started the majority of his games as a No. 8, he has also occasionally been utilised as a No. 6, No. 10, and a backup striker.

Coach Ruben Amorim would not have overlooked the fact that Guerra even appeared twice as a right-wingback.

With a passing success rate of 77.9% over the past 12 months, the Spanish Under-21 international is in the bottom 19%. When we consider Guerra’s ball-carrying prowess, his figures appear even more astounding.

He is in the best 12% with an average of 1.74 progressive carries per 90 minutes and in the top 17th percentile with an average of 1.01 successful take-ons per 90.
