Signed a contract with Nike at the age of just ‘8’

At barely eight years old, Brazilian sensation Kauan Basile inked a long-term contract with Nike in 2021.

After his abilities at the Brazilian giants’ younger tiers were seen on social media, the Santos youngster caused a stir.

The excitement surrounding the real wonderkid is so great that Basile is already being hailed as the football player for the future in Brazil.

He was younger than Lionel Messi when he signed his initial contract with a sporting goods behemoth. Moreover, Nike offered him a hefty deal.

He was guaranteed a three-year contract, with a further two-year option if he continues to improve.

Basile became younger than Messi and Neymar, another Santos player, when he signed his first contract with Nike.

At the age of 15, Messi signed his first Nike contract, while Neymar was just 13. Meanwhile, Real Madrid star Rodrygo signed the contract with Nike at the age of eleven.

However, Basile, who plays futsal for Santos’ junior team, has broken all previous records with the agreement.

With his father, Andrezinho, having played for Corinthians, Basile has a strong football heritage. Proud father Andrezinho is tipping his son for superstardom.

The father said this about his son: “He is a player with an absurd will to win. He has a lot of technical quality.”

Basile’s agents, Mengoni Sports, revealed the news of the Nike deal with a gushing post on social media.

They wrote: “Today Kauan broke the record of being the youngest player in the world by signing a contract with Nike! He is pure talent! He has football in the soul, in his heart and in his DNA.”
