Who many games will Martin Ødegaard will miss after suffering injury in UEFA Nations League?

The Arsenal captain could be out for the Tottenham game.

Arsenal have suffered a massive blow ahead of the north London derby as their captain Martin Odegaard twisted his ankle in Norway’s game against Austria in the UEFA Nations League.

The midfielder is now in major doubt for the game against Spurs and Norway boss Ståle Solbakken has said that the injury looks serious.

Odegaard left the pitch in the second half and was helped by the medical as things looked serious for the player. The former Real Madrid player looked devasted and now the scans will reveal the extent of his injury.

Speaking after the game, Norway boss Solbakken said: “It looked bad in the dressing room too. He didn’t have the nerve to continue. It is not certain that Arteta will call me tonight and praise me.”

Meanwhile, Norway doctor Ola Sand also offered an update. As quoted by TV2, he said: “He got a small ankle sprain. We will see, maybe we use ultrasound to look at it. If we are unsure, there will be an MRI tomorrow.”

Arsenal already have a slew of players injured with Riccardo Calafiori also suffering an injury in Italy’s game against France, while new signing Mikel Merino fractured his shoulder during the training.

The defender was instantly sent back to London and didn’t participate in Italy’s next game, now it remains to be seen if Calafiori will be fit for the Spurs match.

Meanwhile, Declan Rice is set to be in the stands after he was shown a red card in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion. Mikel Arteta has his preferred midfielders unavailable for the game and it will be a big test for him against Spurs.

Arsenal’s start to the new season has seen them pick seven points from three games while their rivals Liverpool and Manchester City are equal on points with nine.

Now their injury setbacks could derail their start to the new season but Arteta certainly will have to field his strong XI in order to continue pressure on City and Liverpool.
