Who is Tottenham's new star goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky?

Kinsky is more than just an emergency signing made by Spurs.
As 2025 approached, Tottenham faced a crisis of injuries, forcing Ange Postecoglou to look at his depth chart for starting possibilities, particularly in the back.
They have been severely weakened in goal as well as along the back line, as regular starter Guglielmo Vicario sustained a chronic ankle injury that will likely keep him out for several months.
Tottenham were persuaded to search the limited January transfer market for a successor after veteran backup goalkeeper Fraser Forster had a string of poor performances.
Who is Tottenham Hotspur’s new signing Antonin Kinsky?
On January 5, 2025, Spurs completed the deal after making a winter bid for 21-year-old goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.
Kinsky came from Czech powerhouse Slavia Prague, where, despite his youth, he already made 30 appearances as a goalie. In the 19 games he played this season, he kept an amazing 12 clean sheets and started every league game for the team.
After reportedly paying €15 million ($15.5 million or £12.5 million), Spurs signed him for a six-and-a-half-year contract that would last until the summer of 2031. The youngster, who stands 6 feet 3 inches tall, is the son of Antonin, a former Czech Republic international who won five caps for the national team while playing in goal.
Kinsky could become Spurs’ No.1
It’s not a panic move, even though the signing’s timing seems to be nothing more than an urgent cover for a limited goalkeeping room.
Kinsky could challenge Forster for the No.1 spot at Spurs and is highly regarded around Europe. One Bundesliga scout even went so far as to liken Kinsky to the legendary Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich.
According to the research, Kinsky’s strongest attribute is his distribution, which allows him to pass with both feet when in possession.
However, as all goalkeepers must be, Kinsky is also a good shot-stopper. In terms of clean sheets, goals allowed per 90, and save percentage, he leads all ten of Europe’s top leagues.
Kinsky makes an impact on his debut for Spurs against Liverpool
Three days after joining Tottenham, Kinsky made his debut while Forster was still recovering from his sickness. He kept an absolutely remarkable clean sheet against the Premier League and Champions League leaders Liverpool.
When Mohamed Salah’s cross threatened the goal in the 59th minute, Kinsky was there to rise and meet the ball just on the line, making a difficult but excellent save. He covered his near post well with a powerful reaction save in the 69th minute, diving to his left to save Darwin Nunez’s dangerous shot.
In an attempt to retain the starting position, Kinsky made a number of outstanding saves and demonstrated that he can be relied upon in goal for the upcoming games.
