After matchday 1 of the league, many managers are already at risk of losing their jobs.

Many clubs had a brutal start to the first weekend of the Premier League 2025-26 season, and two managers already seem to be under a lot of stress.

Wolves suffered the worst loss of the weekend as they were crushed 4-0 by Manchester City at home, indicating that Pep Guardiola’s squad will be a formidable opponent once more.

But it was West Ham’s 3-0 loss to Sunderland—where the recently promoted team easily defeated the Hammers—that truly grabbed attention.

Graham Potter and Keith Andrews’ jobs are in danger

Keith Andrews and Graham Potter are joint 5/2 favourites after the opening weekend.

West Ham manager Graham Potter had a terrible start to the season, and the bookmakers have already made him the new favorite to be the next manager to be sacked from his position in the top flight.

Before the ball was kicked-off this season, Leeds manager Daniel Farke was the bookies’ favorite. These things can and can change very rapidly.

The Yorkshire team plays Everton on Monday night to start the season, and Farke might be able to obtain the shortest odds back if they lose badly.

However, Potter is currently under the biggest pressure because of the three goals in the second half at the Stadium of Light, which sent the Hammers reeling back to London.

Speaking to Sky Sports of the shock heavy defeat, Potter said: ‘Very disappointing. The second half was not good from us in terms of the basics.’

‘First half was quite good, we controlled the crowd and were unfortunate not to score. The first goal was always going to be important. Basics of football we have to really improve.’

‘It is the first day, we know these things can happen as much as we don’t like it to happen. We have a big game on Friday, we have to react and do a lot better.’

Keith Andrews, the new Brentford boss, also lost to Nottingham Forest 3-1, which could make him the “next manager to leave.”

The Bees have had a very tough summer because captain Christian Norgaard transferred to Arsenal, top scorer Bryan Mbeumo was traded to Manchester United, and former manager Thomas Frank left for Tottenham.

Considering the club’s recent setbacks, Andrews’ first managerial position is challenging.

When did Potter become West Ham’s head coach?

He was appointed in the middle of 2024-25 season.

When did Andrews become Brentford’s head coach?

He was named the team’s head coach in the summer of 2025 after Frank’s exit.
