Emil Holm will miss the World Cup despite being called up.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to kick off in less than two weeks, with the nations and fans preparing for the ultimate footballing spectacle.
The tournament will be co-hosted by the USA, Mexico and Canada, with a record 48 teams set to participate for the coveted trophy. The 2026 edition will feature some of the greatest footballing nations alongside debutants who are aiming to make their mark in the competition.
The Sweden national football team will be aiming to make an impact after failing to qualify for the previous edition. Led by Graham Potter, the side had an unconventional qualification path for the World Cup. Sweden finished last in their UEFA qualifier group, failing to win any matches. However, their high position in the UEFA Nations League rankings helped to reserve them a spot in the European play-offs.
Sweden utilised the new format, qualifying after dramatically defeating Poland, winning 3-2, with Viktor Gyökeres scoring in the 88th minute to secure their World Cup debut, becoming the first nation to earn qualification using the new path.
