Despite being named by manager Graham Potter in the 26-member final squad, Holm was confirmed to be suffering from a severe muscle injury two weeks before the tournament, with the defender now needing significant rehabilitation time.

Emil Holm currently plays as a defender for Serie A giants Juventus after joining on loan from Bologna. Standing at 1.91m, he is known for his work rate and physical dominance. He also had an excellent domestic season, recording 6 G/A for both clubs, prompting the manager to call up the player to the national team. For Sweden, Holm has managed 16 caps, scoring two goals.
