The Brazilian megastar used to party every night.
Fabio Capello, the former manager of Real Madrid, has discussed how Ronaldo Nazario’s weight increased significantly before he was forced to sell the Brazilian star to AC Milan.
Ronaldo scored 83 goals for Los Blancos in 127 games throughout his thrilling career run with Real Madrid from 2002 to 2007.
Former Madrid manager reveals why they had to sell Ronaldo

Despite Ronaldo Nazario’s spectacular skill and on-field displays, Fabio Capello was a notoriously harsh disciplinarian who ultimately told president Ramon Calderon that the striker needed to be sold.
He told AS: “Ronaldo is the best player I’ve ever coached. He was a guy who loved to go out partying every night, he was crazy, he weighed 94 kilos and didn’t want to lose weight.”
“At one point I told the president that we had to let him go, there was no hope of moving forward. And so we let him go. But, I repeat, he’s the best I’ve ever coached.”
In 2006, as the renowned Galacticos era was coming to a close, Fabio Capello took over as manager of Real Madrid for the second time.
Even though Real already had Ronaldo Nazario on their books, they signed Ruud van Nistelrooy from Manchester United. It was a dead giveaway that Nazario was leaving.
After that, the Brazilian moved to AC Milan. However, Capello was fired from the Bernabeu despite leading them to the league championship.
Ronaldo has earlier talked about his crazy partying in the Spanish capital when he was among the biggest names in the world.
“I was at all of them. I played on Saturday and then went to Paris. I spent Sunday in Paris and went to the party at night.”
“At seven in the morning, I caught the plane to Madrid and arrived at nine in the morning with training at ten. I did this many times,” he told Charla Podcast, as recounted by Cadena SER.
Ronaldo claims that even though he lacked professionalism, he put forth a lot of effort during training, saying, “I didn’t know what you had to do to be a player, so I did what was shown to me.”
When did Capello manage Madrid?
He first managed them from 1997 to 1998, then again from 2006 to 2007.
