The clash was taking place at the Philadelphia Stadium.
The France national football team are locking horns with the Iraq national football team for their second group stage outing of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The contest is delayed due to bad weather conditions.
Les Bleus are up at the end of the first half. Kylian Mbappe scored a sensational strike from outside the box in the 14th minute of the match. Their game was on hold for 70 minutes.
FIFA has mentioned that the game has entered “severe weather mode”, and because of lightning activity approaching the stadium, it is not going to start at the usual time. The supporters at the Philadelphia were instructed via the big screens to vacate their seats due to the thunderstorm, and that is what they have done.
Fans have quickly vacated their seats and are waiting for the conditions to get better. There is a total of a 30-minute delay, which includes the 15-minute halftime break. It will now be interesting to see which team will come up with a top performance in the second half.
The game has now kicked off after a 70-minute delay. The players are back on the field and supporters are back in the stands to root for their respective countries.

The French national football team have a 1-0 advantage and the Iraqi side will be under pressure here. They have stopped the Frenchmen from scoring more than one goal, but the Graham Arnold-led side must figure out a way to penetrate their defence and fire the ball at the back of the net.
The journey is not going to be easy for them, with France’s star-studded lineup keeping them on edge at times. With a win here, Les Bleus will secure a round of 32 berth and the Lions of Mesopotamia will most likely be eliminated from the FIFA World Cup 2026.
