Why are there high hopes of Real Madrid pulling a comeback against Arsenal in Champions League 2024-25 quarterfinal second leg?

Los Blancos have always managed to win games at Bernabeu in UCL.
The word comeback has been often used in the past few days. There have been plenty of posts which has said that Real Madrid are preparing for a massive comeback in their history. They will be up against Arsenal in Bernabeu in the Champions League 2024-25 quarterfinal second leg.
Those posts have been making rounds on social media only hours after Real Madrid’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League 2024-25 quarterfinals first leg at Emirates Stadium.
But will Los Blancos be able to make one of the best comebacks in the history of football? Many fans and pundits think that Madrid have all the Champions League experience to pull such a comeback. Given the second-leg is in Bernabeu, they will be hoping to create panic for their visitors with their home crowd support.
Why are there high hopes of Real Madrid pulling a comeback?
Plenty of hope has been placed on the club to pull a historic comeback against the Gunners. It is mainly down to the club’s stadium, which radiates a winning mentality with fans joining the players and pushing them to put their utmost effort until full-time to overturn the game’s fortunes. That is exactly why Bernabeu is a sacred place.
It is one of the rarest in football. When that Bernabeu atmosphere kicks in, even teams with a significant advantage have felt defeated.
A portion of it can be attributed to the renowned “aura” that everyone has experienced at the Bernabeu, including Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City. Arsenal will have to deal with the same situation. Belief permeates the stadium and is felt by the players.
The past that has produced this aura is also somewhat credited. This is one of the main reasons Real Madrid chose to renovate the Bernabeu rather than relocate.
Their players realize that they are in a place where a significant deal of football history has occurred, nearly all of which has enhanced the club’s excellence.
Madrid have had more success than any other team in overcoming a deficit of two goals down in the first leg of a European knockout match at home. Nine times, the 15-time Champions League champions have accomplished this feat.
Even though the club have never pulled off historic comebacks, they have got the job done at home. Arsenal are going to face a stern test even if they go into the return leg with a 3-0 lead. Real Madrid will make the visitors feel that they are a side who are trailing by a big margin. Madrid will attempt to do a lot of this.
Real Madrid try to convince you of that by playing mind games – putting the opposition under pressure from the first minute of the match.
Hence, the hopes of a comeback haven’t died. Arsenal are going to face a big mental task. They will first need to beat the Bernabeu crowd and their constant demoralising whistles before beating the team in the actual game.
