Why Manchester United must sign Cole Palmer in near future?
The English star has been a big fan of the Red Devils since childhood.
One decision from a player can change the trajectory of a player’s life and Cole Palmer’s choice to join a struggling Chelsea last season turned his career around at the club as well as the club’s fortunes last term.
Palmer has been an instant hit for Chelsea, demonstrating his talent in every game and adjusting to the team’s needs. He has been a bright spot for the team, scoring goals with his drive and inventiveness.
Many major clubs would like to sign the player given his rising stature in the game, and if the opportunity to do so presents itself, the big Premier game teams won’t pass up the chance to capitalize.
But one English club who have a better chance to sign is Manchester United, as Palmer has been a big fan of the club since his childhood. Given United’s right-wing problems, he will fit instantly there.
With 25 goals in all competitions last season, the young player won several awards, including the PFA Awards for Young Player of the Year and Fans’ Player of the Year.
Chelsea knew that Palmer should be rewarded with something during his excellent debut season at the club and they handed him a contract extension until 2033 and a big raise in his wages. Palmer was earlier making £80,000 a week – and according to the latest reports – the 22-year-old now earns a weekly wage of around £130,000 a week.
Why the Red Devils must sign Cole Palmer?
Palmer will unquestionably be the hit signing for Manchester United, who have struggled in the right-wing position despite the acquisition of Sancho, Antony and many others in recent years. But the big-fee acquisition of the Brazilian was a massive blunder from the club which has remained an inferior player since he signed.
Antony has so far made 84 appearances for the club when he came here and has scored 12 goals and provided 12 five assists. When you compare it to Palmer’s record at Chelsea who joined the club last summer. There is a huge contrast, he has netted 31 goals in 53 matches and has 19 assists across all competitions.
Moreover, Antony’s poor performance has seen the club use Amad Diallo on the right wing and sometimes shift Alejandro Garnacho on the right flank. United need a natural right-winger who can make an immediate influence during the games and Palmer is the best fit.
Palmer has nothing to prove because he has already demonstrated his characteristics last season and now his recent four goals against Brighton & Hove Albion were another reason why United should everything in their power to bring the player to Old Trafford.
Moreover, he is a versatile player and can also act as the long-term replacement for Bruno Fernandes, as Palmer can also operate as No.10 behind the striker.
On top of that United and Chelsea have done much transfer business with each other over the years when the Red Devils brought Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and recently Mason Mount. While Chelsea recently acquired Jadon Sancho from Man United. Despite their poor performance the players still want to play for them due to their status in the league and Europe.
If they get a chance to sign Palmer then they should not avoid it because Palmer’s addition to the club will be the cherry on top and he will bolster their attack to the next level.
