Marcus Rashford had an exceptional season for FC Barcelona.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup has officially commenced, with every matchup increasing expectations amongst fans worldwide. The group stages are currently underway, and the newest edition has seen every big team clash failing to produce the expected results, causing massive disappointment. Aimed at breaking the existing trend, England and Ghana are set to face off in their second match of Group L.

England was affected by a major injury setback, with right back Tino Livramento completely ruled out of the tournament, sustaining a severe calf injury during the team’s training session. Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah was immediately drafted under FIFA’s 24-hour pre-match medical emergency regulations.

Manager Thomas Tuchel has decided yet again to bench Marcus Rashford for the matchup vs Ghana. Even after scoring in the last match during his limited game time, Tuchel has decided not to change his front line and will likely rely on the Man United forward off the bench.

Before the tournament, Rashford was not even assured of a spot in the final squad. However, impressive performances at FC Barcelona landed the player in the nation’s World Cup roster. Marcus Rashford is in complete match fitness and ready to impact the tournament.

Marcus Rashford played a crucial role for the side in the pre-World Cup preparatory friendlies, demonstrating exceptional cameos from the bench. He was mostly used as a second-half substitute, using his raw pace to stretch the defensive lines. Thomas Tuchel has planned to use him as a reliable backup option to exploit the Croatian defence to create more chances in the final minutes of the game.

Anthony Gordon is heavily favoured to start ahead of Rashford, aided by his defensive work rate and recent form, earning him the spot. England will be playing in Group L in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, considered an easy pathway for Tuchel’s men. They will play alongside Croatia, Ghana, and Panama.
