Egypt will begin their World Cup campaign on 16th June against Belgium.
Egypt’s 26-man team for this summer’s World Cup is led by Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush. They get ready for their first trip to the competition since 2018.
Salah is anticipated to captain Hossam Hassan’s team in the US, Canada, and Mexico after concluding his dazzling nine-year tenure with Liverpool in 2025–2026.
Despite generating just 11 goal contributions (eight goals and three assists) across all competitions for Manchester City this season, Marmoush is also included in Egypt’s ranks.
Amidst whispers of a summer departure from the Etihad Stadium, the City forward, who has only started 18 of his 39 games for Pep Guardiola’s 2025-26 team, will be eager to make an impact.
Marmoush played until the 72nd minute as the Pharaohs defeated Russia 1-0 in a friendly in Cairo, marking the start of their World Cup preparations.
On June 6, Egypt will play five-time winner Brazil. Nine days later, they will play Belgium at Lumen Field to start their Group G campaign.
They will face Iran and New Zealand in the World Cup group stage as they attempt to get past the first round of the championship for the first time.

Egypt’s technical staff has given Omar Marmoush permission to skip the team’s journey to the US while he gets ready for his wedding.
As the 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations continue, the forward is anticipated to arrive in the Pharaohs’ camp on June 2.
Even though Omar Marmoush was not a regular starter this season for City, he will be an important component for Egypt in the World Cup. He will lead the attacking line alongside Salah.
