The club have suffered a dip in performance. They have not won in the last three LaLiga games, which has resulted in Alonso facing heat from the fans and players. They recently drew with Girona (1-1) before drawing 0-0 away to Rayo Vallecano and 2-2 at Elche.

It is believed that Alonso’s inability to control the dressing room has led to division between the manager and the players, which can be seen in their game. Moreover, Vinicius Jr’ dispute with the ex-midfielder has only made the matter worse.

Why have Madrid fared poorly?

However, report from Athletic says that the problem is not Alonso. It’s Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, and Jude Bellingham. They are not compatible and it is not possible to build a balanced team with those three.

This has mainly hindered the team’s ability to play fluent football. The constant disappointing results have only mounted pressure on the 2010 World Cup winner, while players continue to struggle.

The former Bayer Leverkusen manager has preferred Arda Guler in midfield to find the balance. But Guler hasn’t been consistent enough to elevate the team’s performance.

Meanwhile, some players remain unconvinced by Xabi Alonso’s method, and others believe the manager is not to blame. There is a problem beyond the manager, and the situation remains tense in the dressing room.

However, Xabi Alonso continues to have the backing of the club’s board. They will hope that the 44-year-old finds the solution to the problems that have started creeping out at the club.

Real Madrid will return to action on Wednesday against eighth-placed Athletic Club. It will be a challenging game for Alonso and his men, but a win could douse some pressure.
