The 84-year-old former Manchester United manager made the precautionary measure, according to sources, and it was not an emergency.

A few hours before kickoff on Sunday, he was photographed at the stadium with visitors.
Consultant cardiologist Dr Aseem Malhotra shared a photo of Ferguson and himself on X with the caption, “A privilege, honour and dream come true to be invited to spend some quality time with Sir Alex Ferguson ahead of the game against Liverpool today at Old Trafford.”
Ferguson was transported to the hospital aboard an ambulance from the Old Trafford tunnel area. Officials at the club are hopeful Ferguson will soon be well enough to go back home.
The loss of his wife, Lady Cathy, who died in 2023 at the age of 84, was one of the personal struggles the United legend has endured recently. The entire Manchester United community was devastated by her demise; the couple had been married for 57 years.
Alex Ferguson’s official connection to the club has also changed. His multimillion-pound ambassadorial contract was terminated as part of a larger cost-cutting effort once Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS arrived.
