The Blues are hoping to qualify for the Champions League.
For Chelsea to maintain their dwindling chances of qualifying for the Champions League, they must defeat Brighton on the road this evening.
Since defeating Aston Villa at the beginning of March, the Blues’ season has completely collapsed, with their sole victories coming in the FA Cup against lower-league teams.
Chelsea’s 1-0 home loss to Manchester United last Saturday marked their fourth consecutive Premier League loss without a goal, and they are now in grave danger of missing out on qualifying for the Champions League.
With five games left, Liam Rosenior’s team are seven points behind 5th place after wins by Aston Villa and Liverpool over the weekend, making the match against Brighton even more crucial.
The loss of Joao Pedro was devastating enough, but Rosenior suffered a double in-game setback when Estevao Willian and Enzo Fernandez also picked up injuries.
But ahead of Chelsea’s match against Brighton, Liam Rosenior gave an injury update on the Brazilian striker.

Will Joao Pedro play tonight?
Joao Pedro sustained a slight thigh injury during training last week, which prevented him from playing for Chelsea against the Red Devils last weekend. The 24-year-old striker was reportedly “touch and go” but ultimately failed a late fitness test.
Pedro has since resumed training, Rosenior disclosed to the media on Monday afternoon at Cobham Training Ground. The Blues manager stated:
“Joao [Pedro] will be a late call. He was on the pitch today. We will make a decision tomorrow morning.”
So Joao Pedro should be back on the Chelsea bench tonight, but a late call will be made on him starting tonight vs Brighton.

It’s unlikely that he will play tonight, as he recently returned to training.
