Injuries have plagued the German star’s season.
The first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid is scheduled for tonight. However, the Gunners are going to miss one of their key player due to injury.
Due to an injury, Kai Havertz will not be able to play for Arsenal in the Champions League first leg against Atletico Madrid tonight.
The forward only played 34 minutes in the Gunners’ Premier League victory against Newcastle United last weekend before being replaced by Viktor Gyokeres due to an injury.
Although Mikel Arteta first stated that “it didn’t look too big,” it became evident in the days that Kai Havertz would not be able to play in the pivotal game in Madrid due to the problem. The Arsenal boss declared, “Kai is out,” at the pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

Kai Havertz has struggled with injuries this season
Beyond missing the Champions League first leg against Atletico Madrid, Kai Havertz’s injury is not regarded as catastrophic, but it does draw attention to a more significant issue ahead of the World Cup: his inability to sustain physical consistency.
The German attacker has spent more time on the sidelines than he has played matches. He missed 26 games in all competitions due to a knee injury sustained in August 2025. He alternated between appearances off the bench and matchday squads after his return in January.
A muscular ailment in February that kept him out of four more games exacerbated those problems. Kai Havertz has only made 20 appearances for Arsenal this season, scoring five goals and providing four assists. Now, the most recent injury adds to his growing fitness problem at the club.
Which injury has Kai Havertz suffered?
He has a medical condition that will keep him out for the first leg.
Where will the first leg be played?
At Riyadh Air Metropolitano, In Madrid.
What time will the game start?
12:30 am IST, 30 April.
