The Frenchman returned to training after suffering fever.
Real Madrid will resume their FIFA Club World Cup 2025 campaign when they face Juventus in the round of 16 later today. Los Blancosā journey in the competition began with a draw with Al-Hilal. But the Spanish club recovered in the next two matches, where they saw off Pachuca and RB Salzburg.
However, Madridās struggle to assimilate into Xabi Alonsoās system was clear in their opening game of the tournament. The team laboured to create chances and complete passes effectively.
But in the second game, Madrid looked like a different side, showcasing fluent football and earned the most important three points. The last group stage match witnessed Madrid ease past RB Salzburg as they finished top of their group.
Ironically, finishing first, placed Los Blancos in one of the most difficult brackets. Their road to the final wonāt be easy, as they are likely to face top European clubs.
Their first opponent in the knockout stage are Juventus. As the teams regroups ahead of this tie, they have been handed a major boost.
Will Kylian Mbappe play tonight?
Ahead of the match, star player Kylian Mbappe has returned to training and will be hoping to start.
It is mostly unlikely that he will be in the starting lineup, but the forward is certain to get some minutes on the pitch today. The Frenchman has not appeared in any Club World Cup matches, and the club are expected to ease him back into action.
This is a timely boost for Alonso, as he missed his primary goalscorer, who finished the last season as the top scorer and won the Golden Boot.
Mbappeās addition to the lineup adds the extra flair in front of the net and gives Madrid more goalscoring power. He will aim to make use of every opportunity tonight and open his account in his first-ever Club World Cup 2025 against Juventus.
