Mbappe has scored 18 goals for Madrid so far this season.

When Real Madrid host RB Salzburg today in the Champions League, they will hope to secure their place in the play-off round.

The defending champions’ start has been concerning. At one point, it appeared as though they might not make it to the playoff round at all. However, currently, they are not in danger as they sit in 22nd position in the table.

Defending champions Real Madrid would have placed themselves in serious danger of missing out on the top 24 of the league phase if they hadn’t won a crucial away game over Atalanta on matchday six.

With Real on just nine points from their first six matches, the top eight is now all but impossible. Therefore, their goal will be to position themselves as strongly as possible in the playoff zone from here, and their remaining two games (including this one) are definitely winnable.

Carlo Ancelotti will try and field a strong lineup in the hope of securing his side’s place in the play-off as this season they have struggled to perform in the Champions League.

With Kylian Mbappe finally finding his form in the white shirt all eyes will be on him to spearhead the Spanish capital side to the win. Mbappe has been in excellent form since the start of the second part of the season.

Will Kylian Mbappe play tonight?

Mbappe is certainly going to be in the starting lineup today. Ancelotti knows that his significance in the attacking line can bring goals and he will be a great influence.

Mbappe has 18 goals for Los Blancos in his first season across all competitions as a Madrid player which is certainly not bad considering he struggled in the majority of the first half of the season. But he has finally picked pace and is now finding the back of the net regularly. His brace against Las Palmas was another indication that Mbappe is settling well in the team and complimenting his teammates during the games.
