The striker recently returned to action from an injury.

Liam Delap, a forward for Chelsea, was sent off against Wolves in the Carabao Cup and will miss the Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur. The Italian manager is upset with his forward, as it was Chelsea’s sixth dismissal in nine games this season.

This is because red cards in the Premier League and EFL Cup carry over to the following game for a team. However, red card suspensions in the FA Cup are unique to that competition.

Liam Delap returned to action after two months following his hamstring injury he sustained against Fulham, and now will miss the game against Spurs.

How do red and yellow cards work in the EFL Cup?

Additionally, EFL Cup yellow card bans are only valid in that tournament and do not transfer to the Premier League or FA Cup.

Liam Delap appeared as a replacement in the second half in Chelsea’s 4-3 victory at Molineux, marking his first game in nearly two months.

The former Ipswich Town frontman was the sixth player to be sent off in Chelsea’s past nine games after receiving two yellow cards in a short period of time before receiving a red card.

Hugo Ekitike, a striker for Liverpool, was also sent off in the third round and had to miss the Reds’ Premier League loss to Crystal Palace.

After receiving his second yellow card of the campaign in the EFL Cup, Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella, who also played as a substitute in the second half, will be suspended for the next League Cup game.

Because yellow card sanctions are competition-specific, Cucurella will therefore miss the trip to Cardiff City in the competition’s quarterfinals.

Do EFL Cup red cards carry over to Premier League games?

Yes, red cards in the Premier League and EFL Cup carry over to a team’s next match. However, FA Cup cards are exclusive to that competition only.

How many games will Delap miss?

He will be out for the Tottenham game.

Where do Chelsea stand in the Premier League standings?

The Blues are ninth in the league with 14 points.
