The Argentine has not featured in the last two MLS matches.

When Inter Miami CF visit Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Matchday 4 tonight, they will try to build on their successful beginning to the 2025 MLS season.

Miami have had a hectic start to the 2025 season. However, they only dropped points in a 2–2 draw against New York City FC on MLS opening day.

The Herons advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions Cup after easily defeating Sporting Kansas City and Jamaica’s Cavalier FC. They will now face LAFC. They are riding a two-game winning streak in Major League Soccer going into today’s matchup, having defeated Charlotte FC and the Houston Dynamo.

Since playing the entire 90 minutes in the campaign’s opener against New York City on February 22nd, Lionel Messi has not appeared in an MLS game.

Since then, he has missed the Concacaf Champions Cup last 16 first leg against the Jamaican team Cavalier, as well as the victories against Houston Dynamo and Charlotte FC.

Will Lionel Messi play tonight?

Yes, Messi will play tonight. Lionel Messi, who didn’t participate in the team’s last two MLS games until scoring via a substitute appearance in the Champions Cup victory midweek in Jamaica, will be the center of attention.

Lionel Messi did make a comeback for Thursday night’s second leg against Cavalier in Kingston, where he scored in the closing minutes of the match to give Inter Miami a 4-0 aggregate victory after coming off the bench in the first half.

“The idea was that he play 30-35 minutes in Jamaica to have good feelings again. In the end, we were able to find the time to do it well,” manager Javier Mascherano told reporters in Spanish on Friday.

“We tried to take away from the overload Messi had so that it wouldn’t go further than that. We tried to handle it in the best way. Luckily, we were able to control it and that it didn’t turn into an injury or much more.”
