The game has already been delayed by one day
Inter Miami will concentrate on what looks to be a significant campaign, starting with the Champions Cup, now that the preseason is over.
After winning two of their three games this month, including a 2-2 tie against Orlando City on Friday, Javier Mascheranoās team finished undefeated in the preseason.
Miami lost to Monterrey in the quarterfinals of this tournament last year (5-2 on aggregate), so this is going to be their second straight appearance.
This will only be their third competitive matchup with Sporting; last year, Inter Miami defeated them 3-2 in both of their encounters, including one that took place at Arrowhead Stadium in front of more than 70,000 fans.
However, fans will be expecting to see Lionel Messi playing the game after earlier it was reported that he wouldnāt participate in the match due to extreme cold weather.
Due to unfavourable weather in Kansas City, the sporting organization postponed the Concacaf Champions Cup first-leg encounter between Inter Miami and Sporting Kansas City by 24 hours, and it will now take place today.
Will Lionel Messi play tonight?
Inter Miami manager Mascherano made it clear that Lionel Messi will be taking part in the match against Sporting KC under any circumstances prior to CONCACAF confirming the postponement of the game. Regardless of the weather, Inter Miamiās strategy will remain the same.
āMessiās availability is 100% and I can guarantee that Leo will play,ā he said.
āThe reality is that the lineup and the plan are not going to change much, that is, the reality is that we will try to be protagonists and try to follow the same line that we have shown throughout the preseason. Clearly the weather factor, especially if there is snow, can harm or condition the facts of our game, but obviously we are going with the hope of being able to achieve a good result that will put us on the path to the playoffs.ā
