Manuel Neuer had a reunion with his DFB comrades. Julian Nagelsmann gave an update on Manuel Neuer at the initial news conference prior to the Finland test match (in Frankfurt). He will not be between the posts.
“As a coaching staff, we decided that Manuel Neuer will not play on Sunday yet. That was our decision, and he agreed with it. We will give an update on how things look heading toward the USA match. Oli will play and do a good job,” the national coach explained when asked.
Manuel Neuer suffered an injury during Bayern’s last Bundesliga game against Koln. The timing of the injury is a major setback for Germany team as they begin their warm-up before the competition starts.
Meanwhile, Germany will start preparing for the World Cup in Herzogenaurach. They will be hopeful that Neuer is well enough to play in the next warm-up match against the United States.
The Bayern goalkeeper called his retirement after Euro 2024, but reversed his decision. He is set to play for the national team in the World Cup next month.
On June 14, they will play Curacao in Houston to formally begin their tournament journey. They will next play the Ivory Coast and Ecuador in Group E.
