The Spanish men’s national football team is one of the most promising sides heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They are one of the favourites to win the competition. With the capable players in the squad, La Roja will not be looking to back down.

They secured the Euro 2024 title after their strong performances in the tournament. They also came close to clinching the UEFA Nations League in 2025, but were outplayed by Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Portugal in the final.

Luis de la Fuente is all set to announce a 55-man preliminary squad for the World Cup on Monday. It will be interesting to see the names that are capable of being on the final list.

The Athletic Club Bilbao star Nico Williams recently sustained a hamstring injury. The player looked in disbelief and was unhappy after he had to go out during a game.

As per the recent reports, his injury is not very serious. Nico Williams has only been ruled out for a month. Even though it is not confirmed yet, the 23-year-old will most likely be included in the Spain national football team for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Nico Williams was substituted before the half-time during Athletic Club‘s game against Valencia on 10 May. He was replaced by his brother, Inaki Williams, who later stated that:

“He was limping a lot. He hadn’t felt that type of pain before. It’s concerning, considering the moment we are in right now. Let’s wait and hope for the best possible scenario.”

The 23-year-old has been one of the main men in the attacking front for Spain. Currently, his recovery from the injury is most important for La Roja. Alongside Lamine Yamal and Mikel Oyarzabal, Nico Williams is the one who can cause problems for the opponent’s defence.
