The Netherlands are set to face Sweden in hopes of cementing their glorious moment of the tournament, with both sides set to play at the Houston Stadium in Texas, USA.

Ronald Koeman updates on Quinten Timber’s role against Sweden

Manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed that Quinten Timber has been officially ruled out and will not feature in the heavyweight clash against Sweden, leaving the side at a disadvantage. Doubts regarding his availability arose after the Marseille midfielder was forced to miss the team’s final training sessions.

“There was a collision which caused a light concussion experienced by Quinten, so he will not play this match. After this match, he might be ready.”

Quinten Timber suffered the injury setback during the side’s practice session on Thursday, when he accidentally tripped and collided with teammate Teun Koopmeiners. In the same sequence, his head struck midfielder Frenkie De Jong’s lower abdomen.

While Teun Koopmeiners suggested that the injury was not serious, the medical staff was called upon to assess the issue. They confirmed that the player suffered a mild concussion. After the confirmation, the player was immediately put into the concussion safety protocols.
