Will Kylian Mbappe start in Real Madrid's UEFA Super Cup final against Atalanta?

Mbappe has been included in Los Blancos’ travelling squad for Super Cup game.
Real Madrid and Atalanta BC are going to face each other in the UEFA Super Cup final on Wednesday night. Much of the limelight will be on the club’s new signing Kylian Mbappe. The forward finally decided to join the club of his dreams after keeping them high and dry for the past two years.
Mbappe’s addition to Madrid will transform them into the best-attacking unit in Europe. The forward will be looking to win his first UEFA Champions League with the club.
But his first European silverware might come sooner than we expected. The player has been included in the travelling squad ahead of the UEFA Super Cup final game. It will be interesting to see if he will be in the starting lineup to face the Italian side in the final.
Last season, Madrid won the Champions League after beating German club Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the final. The Serie A club also overcame another German side Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the UEFA Europa League final.
Now Real and Atalanta take on each other in the Super Cup before they start their new season. It’s obvious that Los Blanocs are the favourites in this match. But we cannot underestimate the Serie A club, who caused a big upset when they trounced Leverkusen in the final.
But Real Madrid certainly are one of the sides who always come out with a win despite trailing in big games. With the addition of Mbappe, they will be a more dangerous side this time.
Will Kylian Mbappe play in the Super Cup final vs Atalanta?
It looks likely that Mbappe will start as No. 9. While Vinicius Jr. will operate on the left wing and either Rodrygo or Arda Guler will play on the right. Mbappe has already started practising with the squad after returning from vacation following France’s 2-1 defeat to Spain in the semi-final of Euro 2024.
Even if he ends up not starting, he is certain to come on as a substitute later in the game. The former PSG star will have a big chance to win his first silverware with Real Madrid before the start of the new season.
Carlo Ancelotti might take precautions and introduce Mbappe as a sub for a few minutes. Anyhow Mbappe seems to be physically fit and will hope to be in the starting lineup.
