Wrexham striker made an appearance in the recently released Deadpool & Wolverine movie.

Paul Mullin, the striker for Wrexham AFC, made an unexpected appearance in the newest Marvel comic book movie, Deadpool & Wolverine. Deadpool is famously played by Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds.

Mullin makes a masked cameo as Welshpool, a Welsh take on Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool character. Welshpool makes an appearance during a scene where a plethora of Deadpool incarnations come together on screen.

Welsh flags are prominently displayed across the shoulders and chest of Welshpool’s outfit. In a clear reference to Reynolds’ recently discovered Welsh connection, the camera pauses at one point in the movie to emphasise the character.

“You may have noticed one member of the Deadpool Corps was far deadlier than the rest. WELSHPOOL,” said Reynolds on X, formerly known as Twitter.

”Clearly I was the only Welcome to Wrexham fan in my theatre, because there were some LOOKS when I exclaimed ‘WREXPOOL!’ and ‘Super Paul Mullin!’,” said one fan on X.

Wrexham AFC was acquired by Reynolds and another Hollywood star Rob McElhenney in 2020 and since then, the side has been promoted to League One. The TV show Welcome to Wrexham has documentation of the takeover and the club’s following promotions.

There were other Wrexham football players who appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine besides Mullin. In one scenario, Ollie Palmer, another striker, appeared in the background as a barman.

Reynolds is famous for his movie Deadpool where many parts of the movie have been released, though this time Hugh Jackman and the former came together in a movie named Deadpool & Wolverine which was released a few days ago worldwide and has done great numbers and got great reviews.
