Xabi Alonso in agreement with Real Madrid over sale of Rodrygo for a suitable offer: Report

The Brazilian forward has barely played any Club World Cup games.
According to reports, Arsenal are one of the bidders for Rodrygo, and Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is willing to allow the Brazilian to leave the club this summer.
One of the first significant questions posed to Alonso upon his arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu this summer was Rodrygo’s future at Madrid, which was cast into doubt near the close of the previous campaign under former manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Though that confidence has not been evident during the 2025 Club World Cup, Alonso publicly declared his support for the Brazilian forward, stating that the 24-year-old will be an important member of his team.
Although the forward started in Alonso’s debut game, he has subsequently been utilised as a late substitute in two of the three games that have followed.
Real Madrid ‘open to’ selling Rodrygo
According to The Athletic, Alonso is now in agreement with club management over his willingness to allow Rodrygo to leave the club this summer.
Although neither the manager nor the club are likely to make a concerted effort to sell the player, they have agreed not to obstruct him should he decide to go, should the proper offer come up.
Arsenal are interested in signing Rodrygo this summer and has had initial discussions with his group, but they will need to make a sizable offer to persuade Madrid to part with him.
According to some reports, the South American is worth about €90 million (£77.7 million, $106.1 million); a bid like that may be required for the substantial sale.
Rodrygo’s time at Real Madrid
He has been with Madrid for six years, but he hasn’t been able to match the productivity of the other elite players who play with him. Rodrygo has featured 269 times for the LaLiga side, scoring 68 goals and assisting 47 more.
Madrid are reportedly eager to sell him because of his inconsistent play. Tensions behind the scenes have also been triggered by Rodrygo’s father, who doubles as his agent, voicing worries about his place in the squad.
According to reports, the Brazil international claimed that he would perform better at his preferred position, which is the left wing position, currently held by Vinicius Junior.
Rodrygo may be given the opportunity to feature in his favoured position at the Emirates Stadium because Arsenal are expressly looking for a left-wing forward.
