FIFA World Cup Trophy

ZEE will live telecast all World Cup games.

The countdown to the FIFA World Cup 2026 is almost over, and football fans across India are gearing up for five weeks of nonstop action featuring all 104 matches of the expanded 48-team tournament.

After securing the exclusive broadcasting rights, ZEE introduced three subscription plans priced at ₹266 (one month), ₹799 (three months), and ₹1,699 (annual), giving supporters multiple options to follow the biggest event in world football.

However, just days before kickoff, the broadcaster found itself under fire after users noticed an unexpected change to its popular three-month plan.

ZEE’s monthly plans for the FIFA World Cup

ZEE launched three subscription options for fans wanting to watch the FIFA World Cup 2026. The three-month plan costs ₹799 and the annual subscription is available for ₹1,699.

Among these, the three-month package quickly emerged as the preferred choice for Indian football fans, as it comfortably covers the tournament’s five-week duration. Initially, the plan also supported streaming on up to three devices simultaneously, allowing subscribers to watch matches across laptops, smartphones, and tablets.

ZEE face backlash following change in 3-month plan

Soon after purchasing the three-month package, several subscribers claimed that the plan’s benefits had been altered on the platform, with the simultaneous device limit reportedly reduced from three devices to just one. Screenshots of the change spread rapidly across social media, triggering criticism from fans who felt the terms had been modified after they had already subscribed.

Many initially believed the change was a technical glitch, while others accused the broadcaster of quietly revising the plan’s features ahead of the tournament. The issue quickly gained traction online, with numerous users demanding clarification from ZEE.

The First is a one-month plan, which will cost 266, while the other is three months that costs 799, and the last one is an annual plan that costs 1,699.

The Indian supporters chose the three-month plan because the FIFA World Cup will last five weeks, so it was a sensible decision.

Furthermore, the 3-month membership is available across all three devices, allowing fans to watch games on laptops, phones, and tablets.

ZEE face backlash following change in 3-month FIFA World Cup plans

Following their subscription, fans saw that the 3-month package was changed from a three-device viewing to a single device, prompting widespread criticism of ZEE.

Many felt it was a glitch; ZEE has already changed it back to three devices, allowing fans to purchase a month’s package and watch it on three different devices.

Following the backlash, ZEE restored the three-device support for the ₹799 three-month subscription, effectively returning the package to its original configuration.

This is a developing story…more to follow!

Khel Now had requested ZEE for their perspective on the fiasco; however, a reply has yet to be received.
