Zee5 is India’s official streaming partner for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Five-time champions Brazil are playing Morocco in a mouthwatering Group C fixture in the FIFA World Cup 2026 at MetLife Stadium tonight. There was a lot of interest in the match, which is the biggest one so far in the ongoing expanded 48-team tournament.
The high number of viewers seems to have taken a toll on the servers of Zee5, which is the official streaming partner for the World Cup in India. Just seven minutes into the match, the live stream of the game stopped abruptly across all platforms, with the stream resuming after a couple of minutes.
Unfortunately for fans, they were unable to rewind to catch up on the missed action. On top of that, viewers took to social media to complain about buffering and occasional freezing of the stream.
Thankfully, Zee seemed to fix the problem in time so that fans could catch Ismael Saibari’s brilliant finish, which put the Atlas Lions ahead in the 21st minute.
Zee5’s World Cup service
After months of being stuck in limbo, Indian fans finally breathed a sigh of relief when FIFA struck a deal with the ‘Z’ Group to stream the tournament live on the Zee5 platform, with the television broadcast taking place on the Unite8 Sports Network channels.
The streaming service charged people, including existing subscribers, 799 rupees for access to the World Cup. Like many broadcasters around the world, Zee also showed ads during the mandated three-minute hydration breaks, a practice that has drawn criticism from fans.
