Senegal vs Burundi Prediction, lineups, betting tips & odds
The hosts are the only remaining undefeated team in the group.
Group L table toppers Senegal are set to lock horns with Burundi in the final game of group action of AFCON qualifiers at the Stade Me Abdoulaye Wade aiming to finish the group stage undefeated.
Senegal have been in excellent form under Pape Thiaw who has done a tremendous job after replacing Aliou Cisse in October. Under his regime, the team has not lost a single game in four games winning all of them which has seen them book their place in the AFCON 2025 edition. In the previous game, they defeated Burkina Faso to leapfrog them for the top spot accumulating 13 points in five games.
Burundi on the other hand have endured a tough time in the qualification campaign despite initially starting the group stage with a victory. Since then, they have lost three consecutive games in a row but bounced back against Malawi in the previous game in a goalless draw. Currently languishing in third spot in the group, their chances of qualifying are over.
Kick-off:
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 at 8:00 PM UK
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 at 12:30 AM IST
Location: Stade Me Abdoulaye Wade
Form:
Senegal (in all competitions): D-W-W-W-W
Burundi (in all competitions): W-L-L-L-D
Players to Watch
Sadio Mane (Senegal)
Sadio Mane has been in fine form this season scoring five goals and assisting another five to continue his recent good run of form. Mane is arguably one of the best players in his nation’s history and is also their record goalscorer with 43 goals from 78 appearances which is a good record for a player who mostly plays as a winger. After a blank in the previous game, Mane will be hoping to score a goal here.
Christophe Nduwarugira (Burundi)
Christophe Nduwarugira is one of the most experienced players in the team having made his debut for the national team back in 2014. At 30 years old, he is still going strong after putting in an excellent defensive shift against Malawi in the previous games. Strong in the air, Nduwarugira also doesn’t shy away from putting his body in the line and will be crucial here to deny the likes of Nicolas Jackson, and Sadio Mane from scoring goals.
