Formula 1: Top three racers favourites to win Miami GP 2023
Red Bull has dominated the first four races of the F1 2023 season with two wins each for both their drivers.
Formula 1 will be gearing up for another race weekend with Miami GP 2023 just around the corner. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are going neck to neck, as both have won two races each after the completion of four races this season.
While it will be a traditional race format at Miami International Autodrome, with three Free Practice (FP) sessions on the first day, Qualifiers (Saturday) and a main race on the last and third day (Sunday), drivers will be desperate to gain from this as the last race at Baku was sprint format, which created havoc among sides.
In 2023 Drivers Standings, so far defending champion Max Verstappen is on the top with 93 points, while his Red Bull teammate Perez is shortening the gap with the last race win at Baku, as he is on the runners-up spot with 87 points. While on the third spot is former champion Fernando Alonso with 60 points with his Aston Martin car.
Miami GP debuted in the F1 schedule in the 2022 season. In the inaugural race, Verstappen, a two-time champion, won the race. While the pole position was held by Leclerc, he finished in the runner-up spot. Mexican driver Perez ended the race in the third spot in the last edition. Take a look at the top three racers favourites to win the Miami GP 2023.
1. Max Verstappen (Red Bull)
Surely after the last race disappointment, Verstappen will be looking to repeat his performance at Miami GP 2023 to widen the gap between his competitors. The Red Bull star driver will surely be the favourite to win the race at Miami International Autodrome, as it is a streek-track and a fast circuit with 19 corners, so Verstappen surely will be flying his RB19 car on a 5.14 km surface.
2. Sergio Perez (Red Bull)
Perez, 33, after the 6th win of his career at Baku in the last race weekend, where he started the race on the second spot but was moved down to third position, but later in the race overtook his teammate Verstappen and Leclerc to win the race. Similarly, at the Saudi Arabia GP, Perez surpassed the defending champion to win the race. With his current form, Sergio Perez indeed can challenge Verstappen's throne and go past him at Miami.
3. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari)
Ferrari will be coming to Florida for Miami GP 2023 with upgrades to counter Red Bull DRS advantage, as in the last race UK based side drivers went past the 16th-time champion side on straights with ease. Leclerc in the last edition finished in the runner-up position after starting on pole, so he will be confident to hold his position this time to win the race.
Apart from all these three, Veteran driver and two-time champion, Fernando Alonso cannot be overlooked as after four races, he has three podium finishes and is behind Perez and Verstappen on the 2023 Drivers Standings with 60 points. So it will be interesting to see which driver will go past chequered flag first on May 8, 2023, at Miami GP.
