Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds has been investing in different sports

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who are both owners of the Wrexham football team and famous actors, will join Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners in a group of investors that will acquire a 24% equity share in F1 team Alpine Racing.

Following the investment, the £171 million ($218.10 million) agreement values Alpine Racing, a British company, at about £706 million ($900 million).

The co-owner and partner of Otro Capital, Alec Scheiner, will be a member of Alpine Racing's board of members.

Reynolds, the star of "Deadpool," co-owns Maximum Effort Investments with actor Michael B. Jordan and comedian McElhenney from the American sitcom "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."

When Reynolds and McElhenney acquired control of Wrexham in November 2020, they paid for the Welsh football team's promotion to the English Football League in April of this year.

Their well-liked docuseries "Welcome to Wrexham" has become a huge sensation in North America, catapulting the obscure club into the public eye.

The Huntsman Foundation and Main Street Advisors participated in Otro and RedBird's investment, according to Renault.

The Boston Red Sox and Liverpool of the Premier League are owned by Fenway Sports Group, which is a company managed by former Goldman Sachs financier Gerry Cardinale.

RedBird also owns a majority stake in the French football team Toulouse and acquired AC Milan last August for £1.02 billion in a deal that also included the New York Yankees' owners.

The Formula One builders' world championship was won by Alpine Racing, which has a plant in Enstone, central England, in 2005 and 2006 when they raced as Renault's works squad and as Benetton in 1995.

They placed fourth in the overall competition last year and having completed eight of 22 races, they are now in fifth place.

In Viry-Chactillon, Alpine Racing SAS, a French company that manufactures the team's power units, is wholly owned by Renault, according to the automaker.
