Formula 1: Everything you need to know about Austrian Grand Prix
The F1 Sprint returns in the Red Bull ring as Max Verstappen chases history.
For the ninth race of the 2023 season, Formula 1 returns to the Styrian highlands. Here's all you need to know about the Austrian Grand Prix taking place this weekend from June 30th –July 2nd 2023!
The ninth round of the 2023 Formula 1 season will take place at the Red Bull Ring, formerly known as the Austriaring and the A-1 Ring when the sport enters the Styrian highlands, which takes place over 71 laps of the 4.318-kilometre.
Two races were held at the Red Bull Ring each year in 2020 and 2021, with the addition of the Styrian Grand Prix due to travel difficulties brought on by the coronavirus outbreak. The track resumed holding just one race in 2022.
F1 Sprint is back!
The 2023 Austrian Grand Prix will once more be a sprint weekend after hosting the F1 Sprint format for the first time last year! In 2023, there will be six F1 Sprint weekends. This one is the second. The Red Bull Ring will once again feature the updated format for this year, which debuted at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The grid for Sunday's Grand Prix will be established after one hour of practise on Friday, followed by the customary hour of qualifying on Friday night. Overtaking is common during Grands Prix at the Red Bull Ring, so there should be a lot of activity on Saturday.
Racing in the mountains
According to a new agreement agreed with Formula 1 earlier this year, the Red Bull Ring will continue to host the Austrian Grand Prix until 2027, serving as the only Formula 1 venue in Austria since 1970. The Spielberg track always has a nostalgic edge. The region around the racetrack, which is surrounded by mountains, is particularly beautiful at this time of year.
Although there are many more relaxing options available, mountain trekking is highly advised if you have some free time while on your trip.
The Support for the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix is Full
One of the best trackside experiences of the year can be had at the Red Bull Ring. The Austrian Grand Prix support race schedule is substantial, and the event is professionally arranged. Over the course of the Austrian Grand Prix weekend, racing in the Formula 2 and Formula 3 feeder series as well as the Porsche Supercup will take place.
The well-liked Red Bull Legends Parade, which will this year include Can-Am cars from the late 1960s and early 1970s, is making a welcome comeback in 2023. David Coulthard, Helmut Marko, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jos Verstappen, Mark Webber, and Alexander Wurz will be behind the wheel. A warm up for the Legends Parade takes place on Saturday night after the F1 sprint, and then the Legends Parade itself is on race day for around 20 minutes.
To conclude with, the Austrian GP is expected to be a race weekend full of drama and entertainment as the Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc had the winning moment last year but with a redemption mode of the Red Bull drivers, they will be looking forward to a comfortable win at their home track.
