The United States GP has been a staple of the Formula 1 calendar since its inception in 1959. Over the years, this race has provided some unforgettable moments, with some of the most accomplished drivers showcasing their skills on American soil. While the location of the race has changed several times, the passion of American F1 fans remains unwavering.

In today's article, we'll take a look at the top five drivers with the most wins in the history of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix.

5. Max Verstappen: 3 Wins

The three-time world champion joins the list at number five. Having won the last two editions of the United States GP with his Red Bull Racing team, the Dutchman joins an elite club of two-time US GP winners alongside the likes of Sir Jackie Stewart, James Hunt, Carlos Reutermann, and Ayrton Senna.

Moreover, with the level of dominance both Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen have shown throughout this season, he has equalled the record of Graham Hill and Jim Clark with three United States Grand Prix victories against his name.

4. Jim Clark: 3 Wins

Jim Clark, a Scottish racing icon and a two-time Formula 1 world champion, comes in fourth for the most wins in the history of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, having won three races in 1962, 1966, and 1967. Clark was a dominant force in the 1960s, winning the most races (25) and securing the most number of pole positions (33) before his untimely death in 1968.

All three of Clark's wins came at the challenging Watkins Glen circuit in New York, where he displayed his extraordinary skill and mastery of his car. His smooth and precise driving style, combined with his ability to consistently extract maximum performance from his car, meant he was always there or thereabouts, year in and year out.

3. Graham Hill: 3 Wins

Graham Hill was one of the greatest drivers of his era, winning two world championships as well as finishing runners-up three times. Hill's fierce battles with the likes of Jim Clark, Sir Jackie Stewart, and co. are still fondly talked of. Moreover, his consistency at the US Grand Prix makes him stand out as one of the very best.

From 1962 to 1968, Graham Hill won three races: 1963, 1964, and 1965, while finishing second in all the other races except the 1966 US Grand Prix, where he retired on lap 52 with a differential failure. Needless to say, when it comes to the USGP, there's few who can challenge the great British driver.

2. Michael Schumacher: 5 Wins

Michael Schumacher, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time, found great success at the United States Grand Prix. The German driver secured a total of five wins at the US GP during his illustrious career, with all five of those victories coming at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The seven-time world champion's incredible work ethic, precision, and ability to extract the maximum performance from his car allowed him to thrive in diverse conditions, making him stand out as one of the finest drivers of his generation.

1. Sir Lewis Hamilton: 6 Wins

The modern era of Formula 1 is synonymous with the name Lewis Hamilton. The British driver has made a significant impact on the sport, and the United States Grand Prix has been no exception. Lewis Hamilton has dominated this race over the years, racking up a total of six wins, with his latest victory coming in 2017.

His first two victories at the USGP came in 2007 and then in 2012, when he was still driving for the McLaren Mercedes team, while his other four victories were with the Mercedes F1 team during a relatively dominant era for the team. Besides, Hamilton's ability to adapt to different track conditions and his extraordinary racecraft can never be ignored. With his six victories, he's without doubt the King of the Americas, and it's safe to say that Hamilton's presence on this list is well-deserved.
