Last year, Lando Norris won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, his maiden title at Yas Marina.

With the end of the Qatar GP, all eyes are now set on the last race of the season, the Abu Dhabi GP. Commenced in 2009 at Yas Marina in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital, the race has seen veterans as well as emerging stars establish themselves in the championship.

Sebastian Vettel won the inaugural edition of the Abu Dhabi GP and also defended his title in the succeeding year. Lewis Hamilton, who recorded his maiden triumph in 2011, has won the most titles (5) in Abu Dhabi, one more than Max Verstappen, who won four consecutive titles between 2020 and 2023.

Last year, Lando Norris helped McLaren win the concluding race of the F1 season for the second time, while Carlos Sainz Jr and Charles Leclerc finished P2 and P3 for Ferrari, respectively.

Nevertheless, the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi GP offered enthralling action. For the first time in 15 years, the final race of the season witnessed a three-horse race. While Norris was in the pole position to win his maiden championship, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri were not out of the title contention completely.

The Briton was only required to secure a podium finish to become the world champion. However, Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen and his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, were on his tail to spoil the party for the Briton. Norris managed to hang on with Charles Leclerc in his Ferrari, trying to chase him down.

Norris safeguarded his title at Yas Marina, and with a P3 finish, he triumphed over Verstappen with two points to clinch his maiden title.

The last time the championship lead was overturned was in 2010, when Vettel overcame a 15-point lead to become the World Champion, leapfrogging Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber at the final race of the season.

Following is the list of all winners who have won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in past years.
