The former F2 Driver raced for Campos Racing as part of the Red Bull Junior Team.

British racing driver Arvid Lindblad is all set to make his highly anticipated Formula 1 debut with Red Bull’s junior team Racing Bulls, alongside Liam Lawson. Born in Surrey, England, he holds British (and also Swedish) nationality.

Lindblad currently competes in the FIA Formula 2 Championship (F2) for Campos Racing and is a member of the Red Bull Junior Team. Arvid is currently in sixth position in the 2025 F2 Driver Standings, which includes two victories and a Pole Position.

Earlier this year, he took part in two Free Practice 1 sessions for Red Bull Racing, first at his home race in Silverstone and more recently at the Mexico GP.

Since the news of his signing with Racing Bulls, many fans have noticed that Arvid’s helmet has three flags, one of which is an Indian flag, which raises the question, Why does his helmet feature the Tricolour.

Arvid Lindblad pays tribute to his mother’s heritage with the Tiranga

Lindblad was born and raised in Virginia Water, England, to a Swedish father and a mother of Indian heritage. Though his nationality/citizenship is British (and Swedish), he often expresses pride in his Indian roots, thanks to his mother’s side.

Arvid has always raced under the British flag, so officially, he doesn’t represent India. However, Lindblad has incorporated the Indian tricolour alongside the British and Swedish flags.

The Formula 2 star, in an exclusive conversation with IANS, has stated that he is “very proud” of his Indian heritage and carries it with him, even though he grew up in the UK.

“I’m very proud of my Indian heritage. My mum is Indian and I’m very proud of that. I carry that with me. I’ve been sort of raised in the UK, but I’ve been very close to my grandparents and really raised in Indian culture. And it’s something I’m very proud of. It’s something that is very much part of my life,’

Arvid’s promotion in F1 is also being celebrated by Indian F1 fans, as it creates a personal connection: even though he may not officially “race for India,” seeing the Indian flag on his helmet signals respect and pride in his origins.

Racing Bulls often serves as a platform for Red Bull Racing to evaluate new drivers, who may be promoted to the main team once they have proven their capabilities in the junior team.

The seat at Racing Bulls also gives Arvid the opportunity to showcase his talent to the entire grid, helping secure his future ambitions and opportunities at the pinnacle of motorsport.

When will Arvid Lindblad make his F1 debut?

Lindblad will make his F1 debut in 2026 as a Racing Bulls driver alongside Liam Lawson.

Why does Arvid Lindblad have the Indian flag on his helmet?

Arvid includes the Indian flag as a tribute to his mother’s heritage. It’s a nod to his desi roots, even though he races under a British license.

Has he raced in Formula 1 yet?

No, but he has participated in testing and some Free Practice 1 (FP1) sessions. His official F1 debut is planned for the 2026 season.
