Not adding NieR: Automata to the best JRPG games list would be a crime. The game tells the story of a group of Androids given the task of reclaiming Earth from a machine army that has been ruling the planet for a long time. There is also an anime adaptation that you can watch as well.

The Final Fantasy game franchise will always be considered one of the greatest ever. If someone mentions JRPG in front of me, the first name that comes to my mind is Final Fantasy.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was the newest game of the franchise which was released in February 2024. It is also considered to have a good chance of winning the Game of the Year.
