Our hope lies in the hands of Hidetaka Miyazaki
There is a new report that has instantly captured the interest of the fans and gamers on the internet. Bluepoint Games once pitched the Bloodborne remake, but the project was ultimately rejected.
It wasn’t rejected by Sony; instead, it was rejected by FromSoftware. This was reported by Bloomberg, the studio pitched the idea in early 2025. Earlier this month, PlayStation also shut down the studio, which is known for remakes of Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus.
Why did FromSoftware rejected Bloodborne remake pitch?
For now, there is exact details or reasons mentioned in the report. Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida previously suggested that FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki may want to revisit Bloodborne himself.
The game was directed by Miyazaki, and Yoshida is sure that he does not want anyone to touch it. Although PlayStation is the owner of the intellectual property, it seems that the corporation admires the wish of FromSoftware.
Fans are speculating that this might be the reason why FromSoftware might have rejected the pitch. As they might be busy with other projects and also don’t want anyone to work on the remake.
Other rejected projects of Bluepoint Games
The report also suggested that Bluepoint Games also suggested other pitches to Sony. The studio had been developing a spin-off of God of War as a live-service based on Atreus following the events of God of War Ragnarok.
This project was cancelled in January 2025. After that, the company pitched more ideas:
- An updated version of Shadow of the Colossus
- A Ghost of Tsushima spinoff
- Other projects set within existing PlayStation franchises
None of these projects was approved by Sony. Then, on February 19, 2026, Sony PlayStation announced that they have officially closed Bluepoint, just five years after aquiring it.
