Next-Gen Xbox and buzz for new COD game
There has been some serious news related to COD as the famous leaker TheGhostOfHope has revealed that Call of Duty 2026, which is likely to be a new chapter of Modern Warfare, is in development. It is also been said that this will be an exclusive for the next-generation Xbox.
This tasty tip, triggered by Activision’s postponement of Black Ops 6 Season 3 to April 3, hints at a huge hardware upgrade coming sooner than expected. Let’s check out more details in this article.
Call of Duty 2026: Next-Gen only?
According to a leaker, the new Call of Duty 2026 won’t support the old gen consoles unlike the recent Black Ops 6.
This game is considered to be made possible for the upcoming Xbox Prime. It is also rumored that this console could be out by late 2026. This will truly mark the shift towards the consoles and the old consoles will be left behind more.
Verdansk’s Return and Warzone’s Fate
The move of Black Ops 6 Season 3 from March 20 to April 3 is part of larger plans, including the return of Warzone’s legendary Verdansk map, which Insider Gaming first reported in 2023.
However, Hope warns that if Verdansk fails to entice players back to Warzone, a third free-to-play battle royale title may never see the light of day. With Season 3’s release date established, Activision is preparing for some big revelations soon.

Conclusion
For now, take this information with a grain of salt as neither Activision nor Microsoft have confirmed Call of Duty 2026 or the next Xbox. According to sources, Treyarch’s 2025 game follows a tumultuous internal shuffle, with Sledgehammer eyeing a standalone project in 2027.
For the time being, consider this speculation—Hope’s track record is good, but plans are subject to change. A 2026 Xbox launch would deviate from the typical 7-8 year cycle (the Xbox Series X|S debuted in 2020), potentially outpacing Sony’s PS6.
