Nostalgic return for COD fans!

While everyone is waiting for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, new reports are suggesting that Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 &2 are prepared to come to modern platforms.

This will provide fans and modern audiences another chance to experience Treyarch’s iconic campaigns and multiplayer action. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Call of Duty Black Ops 1 & 2 release window

Treyarch has officially confirmed that Black Ops 1 & 2 are expected to launch in July 2026. For now, the exact release date is still unknown, but we might get the announcement of the release date pretty soon.

The return of these iconic shooters would also give fans a great opportunity to experience some of the best moments in the franchise’s history and introduce them to a new generation of gamers. Treyarch has worked with Iron Galaxy Studios for these ports.

Are these full remasters?

According to Insider Gaming, these are enhanced ports rather than full remasters. These versions of both games will retain the original experience, while adding some of the modern improvements for the platforms.

The dataminers have also claimed that these ports will include updated language, modern PlayStation Network integration and PS5-specific enhancements.

Multiplayer details

Reportedly, the files contain references to matchmaking services such as “joinSession”, suggesting that multiplayer (online) may be available.

The reports also suggest that progression data from the original releases will not carry over to new ports. You have to start a fresh new journey.

Expected platforms

According to current reports and confirmation from the developers, Call of Duty Black Ops 1 & 2 ports are coming to PlayStation 4 & 5.

Additional leaks also suggest that these ports might also arrive on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.

When will Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 ports be released?

Treyarch has confirmed that these ports will arrive in July 2026.

Are the ports remasters?

No. Reports indicate these are enhanced ports with modern improvements rather than full remasters built from the ground up.

Will multiplayer be available?

Datamined files suggest multiplayer support could be included, but Activision has not officially confirmed this feature.
