Can Xbox studios match quality of Astro Bot?

Do they have the talent?
Astro Bot by Team Asobi has won the Game of the Year 2024 by beating big games like Black Myth Wukong, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, etc.
I was scrolling in the Icon Era gaming forum when I found this thread where fans were discussing whether Xbox can create the same quality game as this or not. Let’s check out more details in this article.
Thoughts on Xbox studios
Many fans there in the community were arguing about how Xbox spent over 82.5 billion dollars over eight years and has not produced a memorable game that matches the impact of PlayStation’s exclusives.
Many people believe that Xbox’s approach to studio acquisitions stifles rather than nurtures creativity. The case of Hi-Fi Rush, a highly praised game, is frequently mentioned as an example of unrealized potential, with the studio behind it shutting down, implying a lack of long-term vision for creative projects.
The gaming community frequently points out that the Xbox audience appears to prefer darker, more intense games such as first-person shooters (FPS) or sports and racing titles, which may overshadow the creation of games that appeal to a broader, more diverse audience.
There were even some trolls and jokes about how the creatives might get fired or completely shut down there if they tried to bring a project like Astro Bot. Team Asobi was really creative with its IP and they really nailed everything in the game.
But the most important part is the support from PlayStation and the main people involved there who make those decisions. It’s not like Xbox doesn’t have any great talents or studios, however, they don’t know how to utilize them properly and in the end, many studios leave them and come back to PlayStation.
Whether this is due to corporate strategy, audience demand, or studio management is a point of debate among fans. What are your thoughts about this and do you think they might deliver a GOTY contender in the upcoming years? Do share your thoughts in the comment section.
