What can fans expect before the July launch?
The football fans are pretty excited about the upcoming College Football 26, which has recently received a gameplay deep dive from EA.
Deluxe Edition users on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will have access to the game on July 7, while the base version will be available on July 10, 2025.

The playbooks are getting upgrade with the Wear & Tear system, tackling mechanics, abilities, and controls.
EA has also added over 2,800 new plays and 45 formations to let fans and players to craft their best strategies on the pitch.
EA promises, ““New option types, motion types, and wild plays from last season are now at your fingertips, tuned to match your program’s style,”
Beyond the massive plays, fans can expect refined blocking, dynamic defensive coverages, and smarter substitutions for real-time control.
New player archetypes (10) and rebalanced abilities (84) accentuate outstanding skill, and a new Heisman Tier—upgraded from Platinum—provides game-changing power on the field.

Enhanced Wear & Tear and Tackling
The wear and tear system is getting a major makeover with customizable auto-subs and sliders to fix bugs and boost control in College Football 26.
Tackling also gains realism: “Better-rated tacklers won’t just win more—they’ll dominate with authority,” according to EA.
Timing-based components enable good defenders to finish plays decisively, whilst weaker ones risk being dragged or broken through. The new tackle types include: Wrap Catch Tackles, In-Range Lunge and Unprepped Hit Sticks.
There is also Stadium Pulse, Custom Zones, and Pre-Play Movement add depth, detailed in the trailer and EA’s blog.
