Crimson Desert's fast-paced combat & mechanics review

Not everything has to be soul-like

Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert is one of the most anticipated open-world RPG games, which is scheduled to launch later this year.

Recently, the game show panel was present at the PAX 2025, where fans had the chance to get a hands-on gameplay impression of the game.

GameSpot on YouTube recently posted a video where they talked about the combat mechanics in the game. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Fast paced and combos

In the video by GameSpot, I was amazed to see how many things you can perform while having a battle. There are so many options for combat and everything is fu**ing fast.

These tools and combat might get overwhelming for some, but I am all ready for it.

From the video, it describes that we will have light & heavy attacks, overhead slashes, running, dashing, jumping, sliding, rolling, parrying, counterattacks, shield bashes, vaulting jump attacks, impaling, repositioning enemies while impaling, slo-mo with bow attack, dodging while using slo-mo bow attack, glinting your sword to blind your enemies, throws and more.

The best part, that this is all the early and mid-game part, which implies that we might see some more mechanics in the Crimson Desert late gameplay.

I was surprised to see that you can even perform combos by using and mixing the different combat mechanics.

Like showcased in the video, we can see the character performing a throw, leg sweep and then dealing with the enemy with a finish. Many combos can be performed, but need to be tested first.

Crimson Desert physics system also looks pretty good. The environment can play a major role in the combat and other things as well.

Overall, the fans’ reaction at PAX 2025 to Crimson Desert is amazing and everyone is praising Pearl Abyss for this amazing game that will soon release in 2025.
