Kojima masterclass is here

Finally, after so many years, the official release date of Death Stranding 2 has been announced, and it will launch on June 26, 2025. This was recently announced on March 10, 2025 during the Kojima Productions panel at South by Southwest 2025.

Along with that, fans also got a whole 10 minute pre-order trailer which was absolutely amazing. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Death Stranding 2 official release date and trailer drop

Kojima has finally pulled the curtain at SXSW 2025, by showcasing a brilliant 10-minute trailer. Sam Porter Bridges will finally return on June 26, 2025.

Pure Kojima magic—teasing cryptic vibes, gorgeous visuals, and a frightening world to explore. It’s been a long wait since the 2022 reveal, but the sequel to 2019’s Death Stranding is looking promising. Exclusive to PS5, it’s a summer blockbuster you don’t want to miss and in my eyes, it is already a GOTY contender.

Just look at the trailer, it doesn’t feel like a game, it’s a damn movie. It won’t be wrong to say that Kojima is Dennis Villeneuve or Christopher Nolan of gaming regarding cinematography and world-building.

Multiple Editions for Death Stranding 2

The game will be available in three editions:

  • Standard Edition ($69.99): Whether physical or digital, this is your classic ticket to the action.
  • Digital Deluxe Edition ($79.99): Early access beginning June 24, 2025, with additional digital goodies (TBA)—ideal for die-hards who can’t wait.
  • Collector’s Edition ($230): The ultimate package includes the physical game, art cards, a Dollman figurine, a handwritten letter from Kojima, and a giant 15-inch statue. A must for collectors with large pockets!

Norman Reedus reprises his role as Sam Porter Bridges, with Troy Baker as the ominous Higgs and Léa Seydoux as Fragile.

This sequel, unveiled at The Game Awards 2022, continues the original’s genre-bending legacy—think parcel delivery meets existential dread in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Expect new faces (rumors suggest Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna) and Kojima’s distinctive twists. All exclusive to PS5.
