Kojima’s production, Death Stranding 2, has an amazing launch and is currently sitting at 90 ratings on Metacritic.
This sequel is so much better than the original game in terms of everything. You can also say that this is one of the best-looking games on PS5 for now.
However, there are some troubles that fans are facing on PS5 when they open the map screen. Let’s find out more in this article.
Overheating reports from PS5 players
A Reddit user mudman2018, recently posted a post about the overheating problem on Death Stranding 2. This is what he said in the post:
I’ve been playing the game on a base PS5 and overall it runs great—the graphics are stunning and I’ve had no issues during regular gameplay. But as soon as I pause the game and the map screen comes up, the fan suddenly goes into overdrive and I get an overheat warning.
It’s strange because everything else runs smoothly, even during long gameplay sessions. But the moment I bring up the map and start planning a route, the fan suddenly goes crazy and I get an overheating warning. I just cleaned the console recently and it’s in a well-ventilated spot, so airflow shouldn’t be a problem
Is this happening to anyone else, or is it just me?
Well, he was not the only one who was having this problem while playing the game. Many users commented and reported that they were facing the same issue.
Death Stranding 2 is running smoothly in every department; however, just when you open the map screen, the fan starts to go on overdrive, and you get the overheat warning.
This is happening on the base PS5 and in both quality and performance modes. However, some users who are playing this game on PS5 Pro haven’t faced this issue.
Even after the new patch, this issue has not been fixed yet. For now, we can only hope that Kojima Productions is aware of this issue and can bring a fix in another patch update for Death Stranding 2.

What can players do?
Till we get another patch for Death Stranding 2, players can try these steps:
- Switch to Performance Mode: This keeps the frame rate at 60fps, minimizing strain when compared to Quality Mode’s 30fps.
- Ensure Ventilation: Place your PS5 in an open, well-ventilated area and use compressed air to eliminate dust.
- Limit Map Screen Time: To reduce the danger of overheating, avoid spending too much time on the map.
- Report a bug: To help Kojima Productions accelerate a fix, provide comprehensive feedback on their support website.
